Jor****** Interview:
Is this your first time in China? If no, how much time have you spent in China and what did you do here previously?
I have been here a year studying Chinese, and this is my first trip. I studied at another school in Beijing earlier this year.
Why did you decide to study Chinese language?
Because of the number of business opportunities here- and I'm also very interested in Chinese culture.
Why did you choose to study at Chinese Language Education?
I really like how the school offers very small class sizes. There are only 3 people in my class right now, and the teachers pay very close attention to each student. Before coming to this school, I had some friends that were already studying here. That's what convinced me to come.
How do you feel about your study experience here?
Excellent. I've met a lot of really interesting people that I know will stay friends of mine long after my program has ended. This school has helped me integrate different aspects of Chinese culture into my own life, and the Chinese I've learned here has been extremely useful on a daily basis.
Would you recommend Chinese Language Education to other people wanting to study Chinese?
Yes, definitely.
In your opinion, Chinese Language Education is most suitable to what kind of student?
Relatively Serious students- kids who are really interested in studying Chinese. It's not for people who come here for a few months only to party around. I think students are more mature here.
How do you like Beijing?
I love Beijing. Its cultural background, history, and importance to the world make it such a fascinating place. China's fast growing economy makes for an ever-changing environment around you every day. Also, the Chinese people are some of the nicest and most humble people in the world. They are very eager to learn about me and my culture.
How would you describe China to someone who has never been here?
There are no words to describe how China really is. There is no place compare it to. You have to come to experience it with your own eyes.
What has been one of your most memorable experiences here?
The first time that I could actually have a conversation with a Chinese person was very memorable. We talked about my country and how I felt about China. She talked about her experiences living on Hainan Island. It felt very fulfilling.
How has your experience in China changed you?
It has changed my view of how Asian cultures see Western cultures. It has also given me a glimpse of the real Chinese person, their values, food, and way of thinking.
What will you miss about Beijing/China when you return home?
All the pretty faces and good friends I've made.
Do you plan to return to China again someday?
I plan to live in china for several years.
What advice/tips would you give to others who plan to come and study in China?
Have an open mind about Chinese culture and try to accept it as it is.
