Christina Interview:

Is this your first time in China? If no, how much time have you spent in China and what did you do here previously?
This is my 2nd time in China. The first time I came was on business two years ago, and I stayed about 1 week.

Why did you decide to study Chinese language?
For business reasons. Also, I liked the challenge of exploring a new culture so different from my own.

Why did you choose to study at Chinese Language Education?
I chose this school because they not only promise small class sizes, but they also keep their promise. The school has a great boss who genuinely wants to help foreigners learn the language.

How do you feel about your study experience here?

All my expectations have been fulfilled! There is a friendly atmosphere and good teachers.

Would you recommend Chinese Language Education to other people wanting to study Chinese?
Yes, definitely.

In your opinion, Chinese Language Education is most suitable to what kind of student?

It's best suited for students who want to study Chinese seriously- mature students (i.e. people who work already)- and basically everyone who wants to 'escape' the big universities and have a more individual approach.

How do you like Beijing?
I have lived in several places in my life, but Beijing is definitely the most exciting city I have been to so far.

How would you describe China to someone who has never been here?

China is much more than the Great Wall, eating rice, and millions of people. China is a hub, a fascinating place where there are new things happening every day, and you are part of it all.

What has been one of your most memorable experiences here?
Every day is memorable here- like doing my Kung Fu, studying Chinese massage, bargaining at the market.

How has your experience in China changed you?
I have realized what is and what isn't important in my own life. China has 'shaken' me up and made me also realize how well off we are in Europe and that there are many things we take for granted.

What will you miss about Beijing/China when you return home?
Where to start? I'll miss the great people I've met, the food, the fast pace of change, the rich culture, and even the Beijing 'noise.'

Do you plan to return to China again someday?
Yes, hopefully I will return for business, and I still want to go to Tibet by train!

What advice/tips would you give to others who plan to come and study in China?
Have an open mind and don't try to understand everything that is different. Enjoy the difference!
