Internships

Internship Programs are combined with core Chinese language classes, either General Chinese or Business Chinese. Students typically will study from 8:30-12:30 each morning, and then use each afternoon to complete their internship requirements. Adjustments can be made to this schedule depending on the needs of both the company and student. Once a student has an adequate base of Chinese language knowledge (approx. 3 months for total beginners) CLE can arrange a sponsored internship.

Internship Process:

• Students send their CV/Resume, including their preferred areas of internship, to CLE.

• CLE staff will attempt to match student interests, job history, and Chinese Language skills with   suitable internship opportunities.

• CLE staff will meet with the student to discuss potential internship options.  Once the student has  decided which internship option they prefer, CLE will arrange an interview (if necessary) or internship post.

• CLE will assist students with any pre-internship training required.

• At the end of the internship, CLE will work with the student and sponsoring organization to provide a summary report of job performance and a letter for reference for the student.

Job Placement Assistance:

CLE maintains relationships with many international and national businesses in China that are always on the lookout for great employees. Therefore, CLE can help students looking for long-term employment opportunities in China find quality positions and companies. Upon achieving a highly functional level of Chinese language proficiency (as determined by CLE employment staff), students can approach CLE with their cv/resume, career goals and interests, and any other employment criteria. CLE will then attempt to match the criteria with current positions available.  Job placement and identification of suitable positions is not guaranteed.
