19 August 2010 : Culture Trip - Qingdao

What: End of Summer Term weekend trip to Qingdao during the famous Qingdao Beer Festival

When: Thursday, August 19 - Sunday, August 22

Who: All CLE students have been invited to participate

Where: Meet at CLE and take subway to Beijing train station

CLE is partnering with Dragon Bus tours to offer a great trip. Your friends are also more than welcome to join. We would leave on Thursday evening on an overnight train and return back Monday morning, so students could then attend class on Monday.

Friday Class: If attending this trip, students would miss their Friday classes. Unfortunately a make up class will not be possible, but you can get your class assignments early and you will have plenty of time to study and speak Chinese during the trip. CLE will have a staff member available for questions. Students that qualify can also take extra tutoring to make up for missed class time.

Trip tentatively includes:
Return overnight train tickets (hard sleeper) BJ/QD
Transfer to hostel
2 nights standard dorm room accommodation in hostel (8 bed mixed hostel)
Western breakfast at hostel
1 day trip to Laoshan (with local guide)
1 day trip to Fu Shan (with trip leader)
One BBQ at hostel
"Amazing Race" event around Qingdao (tentative based on number of participants), and
A visit to the Qingdao Beer Festival, students will be responsible for return transportation

*This trip is not all inclusive and will be very loosely scheduled for each student to spend their time in Qingdao how they would like. Each attendee will be responsible for meals and other expenses that are not listed as included with the trip.

Price**: tentatively the price is around 1400 RMB per person and will be verified once we are able to confirm the trip, number of interested students and all trip details. Gold Package students will be able attend this trip at no charge. All students (Gold, Silver, Bronze) can also choose to upgrade their accommodation (based on availability). Room upgrade will cost:

350 RMB - upgrade to double room (per person)
750 RMB - upgrade to single room

**Please note it is high season in Qingdao now due to the Qingdao beer festival and prices are changing quickly. Registration and confirmation must be received by July 30, but rooms cannot be guaranteed for late additions. We have reserved space for students that have already RSVP'd.
