10+ Years of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language
Introduction & Teaching Philosophy:
With over 10 years of teaching experience, I have taught students between the ages of 7 to 67 years old and from more than 20 different countries.
Growing up, studying and working in Beijing, I have had several different professional work experiences. I quickly realized, however, that teaching Chinese as a foreign language is my favorite. With my love to travel, I have visited most China and have become very familiar with the Chinese culture and history. Meeting new students who are eager to learn Chinese and the Chinese culture is a great way to share my own passion.
Helping a student work through the difficulties of learning Chinese, and watching them progress through the language is a source of great professional satisfaction. Also, when interacting with students from different cultures and countries I feel I'm also learning a lot from them.
I prefer to teach Chinese in a fun and effective manner, not just using drill exercises. Past experience has taught me that students can best learn the language if taught in a relaxed and stimulating environment. Focusing on both group and individual needs, I try to use customized teaching materials for my students. By using current Chinese movies, TV programs, newspaper and magazine articles, we can not only learn just the language but also about modern Chinese culture and lifestyles.
